Russia gets ready to avoid WW3


In recent weeks, Russia’s nuclear-capable forces practiced missile launches and flyovers in apparent offensive measures for a conflict scenario.

Russian troops near the Black Sea coast have carried out drills for an scenario in which Russia was attacked by a chemical or nuclear weapon, the country's military has revealed.

Spread across three Russian regions between the Black and Caspian seas, the drills involved more than 5,000 troops, the Ministry of Defense announced in a statement.

Units specializing in chemical weapons were deployed in the Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, while at least 100 personnel in the neighboring Rostov region launched a parallel decontamination drill.

Russia to deploy Iskander missiles in Europe


According to the country's official and former Black Sea fleet chief Vladimir Komoyedov, Moscow is planning to send its nuclear capable Iskander missile systems to Kaliningrad. "Kaliningrad is our frontline in the west, the main base of the Baltic fleet, which is pressured by the NATO states from all sides. Our plans to deploy the Iskander systems there have been announced several times", Komoyedov said in an interview with Interfax, according to Deutsche Welle. These missile systems are capable of hitting targets located 500 kilometres away from the launch site. (Read more)

Mediterraneo: Maniobras conjuntas Rusia-China


Hace unas horas, las fragatas de misiles chinas Lin-Yi y Wei-Fang, acompañadas por un buque de apoyo, han entrado en la base naval rusa de Novorossiysk (Mar Negro) para participar en las celebraciones del Día de la Victoria, según ha declarado el Ministerio de Defensa de Rusia.

Los barcos se dirigirán posteriormente hacia el Mediterráneo para llevar a cabo ejercicios conjuntos con las fuerzas rusas: "Está previsto que los buques de guerra de la Armada de Liberación del Ejército del Pueblo dejarán Novorossiysk el 12 de mayo para trasladarse a la zona designada del Mar Mediterráneo", ha dicho el Ministerio de Defensa de Rusia en un comunicado.

El ejercicio se llevará a cabo del 11 a 21 mayo, y será el primer ejercicio de este tipo que se lleva a cabo en el Mediterráneo.

US missile cruiser enters Black Sea again


The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) entered the Black Sea on Wednesday as part of the effort to strengthen the collective security of NATO allies and partners in the region, according to a statement by the US 6th Fleet.


The vessel’s weapons include SM-2 surface-to-air missiles, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, Tomahawk cruise missiles, torpedoes, Phalanx Close-in Weapons Systems for self-defense against aircraft and missiles, and five-inch, rapid fire guns.

Russia ‘Welcomes’ the US Destroyer Truxtun


Unconfirmed news reports claim the Russian Navy is deploying land-based ‘Bastion’ anti-ship missile systems as a response to the recent U.S. move entering two naval vessels to the Black Sea. The Bastion anti-ship missile system was deployed last night (8-9 March) to Sevastopol from the Russian town of Anapa, Krasnodar, about 250 miles to the East. Russian Defense Radar, Missiles Worry U.S. Officials


Russia’s military has completed work on a new missile defense radar in southern Russia that has some U.S. military officials worried Moscow is building up offensive and defensive strategic forces in destabilizing combination. The large radar station near Armavir, located near the Black Sea and designed to detect missiles launched from Europe and Iran, is nearly complete, said U.S. officials. The radar deployment comes as Russia is seeking legal restrictions on U.S. and NATO missile defenses in Europe that are designed to protect the continent and the United States from long-range Iranian missiles. A U.S. military official said the Armavir radar station, along with a major buildup of missile defenses and new short- and medium-range missiles, poses a strategic threat to the United States and NATO allies. “The Russians are upset with U.S. missile defenses in Europe and here they are building a network of missile tracking facilities,” the official said.
